On Camera/Musivision is an hour weekly television program aired now on Saturdays at 9pm on BNN channel 23, which is a non-profit community based television station. It has been in existence since 1994. We’ve been moved from one time slot to another. It all started when Producer James Moise Leroy had a weekly show called “Anten Ayisyen/Haitian Antenna” for a long time on the same channel on a different day back then. Mr. Leroy invited me in to join the group and it was then I created On Camera, which was the English segment within Haitian Antenna. Wilhem Calixte who was my roommate and a friend at the time created “Crazy Ba-Ay Video” within the same program. Crazy Bay-Ay Video was the music video segment that kept the viewers entertained for a long time until Wilhem moved to Miami. Consequently, I changed the segment to a more cultural-diverse genre and called it Musivision to this present day.
I am the Director/Producer/Editor and sometimes Host of On Camera/Musivision. It is the segment that either makes or breaks the community as it covers the community events, having topic discussions, interviewing talents, artists and leaders of the community at times. On Camera covers the greater Boston area as it attracts a diverse ethnic group as much as variable demographic age group within the extended communities. The show is catered to the English speaking viewers be it Haitian, American, Jamaican, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Russian, Cape Verdean just to name a few. By having the show in English makes it possible for others to have interest in each other’s cultural differences. It serves as a window through which the viewers can see and be aware of what is going on in the community as well outside of the country. In other word when On Camera travels it takes some of the viewers to places that they dream of going or never thought of before as it brings certain awareness in their households. On Camera has had a large number of individuals that volunteered their time and services to the community in order to provide the viewers with the weekly program they have been enjoying since 1994.
